If you need a campus map, one is available here.
Take Interstate 95/Route 128 to exit 24 (the exit for Route 30). Bear left on the off-ramp and go straight through the traffic light. You’ll now be heading north on River Road, which will turn into South Street when you cross the border into Waltham shortly. After almost 2 miles on this street, you’ll cross over some railroad tracks and then head up a hill. On the other side of the hill is the main entrance to Brandeis University, on your left.
Take Interstate 95/Route 128 to exit 23/24/25 (they all exit the highway together) and follow the signs for Route 30. Turn left at the traffic light onto Route 30, and then almost immediately you’ll see a sign for Brandeis University on the right. Follow it. You’ll now be heading north on River Road, which will turn into South Street when you cross the border into Waltham shortly. After almost 2 miles on this street, you’ll cross over some railroad tracks and then head up a hill. On the other side of the hill is the main entrance to Brandeis University, on your left.
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90) to exit 14 (the Route 128/I-95 exit). After passing through the tollbooth, bear left for Route 128 North. Instead of merging onto the highway, however, take the exit ramp off to the right just before the merge. Turn left at the traffic light onto Route 30, and then almost immediately you’ll see a sign for Brandeis University on the right. Follow it. You’ll now be heading north on River Road, which will turn into South Street when you cross the border into Waltham shortly. Most of our LARP events are held in the Mandel Academic Quad (formerly known as Rabb) on the north side of campus. To get there, turn right at the main campus entrance and follow the Loop Road up the hill. Once you reach the top of the hill, you’ll notice the Usdan Student Center on your left and a big set of concrete stairs leading up to your right. Those stairs lead to Mandel Academic Quad. To park, keep going past the stairs, and when the road appears to fork, take the right fork and turn immediately right into the big parking lot (this will be listed as Tower Lot). Park anywhere in the lot.
On weekends, Brandeis doesn’t enforce parking rules (excepting handicapped spaces and fire lanes).
The Fitchburg commuter rail line goes straight to Brandeis. From Boston, the Fitchburg line leaves from North Station (Orange and Green Lines), and also passes through Porter Square in Cambridge (Red Line). The outbound Fitchburg line schedule can be found here. Note that this is a weekday schedule; you’ll want to use the drop-down boxes to change it to Saturday or Sunday if you want a weekend schedule.
Take the commuter rail to the Brandeis/Roberts station. Walk through the parking lot to South Street and turn right, heading up the hill. On the other side of the hill is the main entrance to Brandeis University, across the street.
The 553 bus to Roberts passes the main Brandeis campus entrance near the end of its route. It leaves from downtown Boston, near South Station. Unfortunately, the 553 schedule is somewhat limited, particularly on the weekends, such that it may be more useful for getting to Brandeis than getting back.
553 bus schedules can be found here. The stop closest to Brandeis is South St & Brandeis University; this is between the South St/Angelside St stop and the Moody St/Carter St stop.
The 70 bus to Cedarwood passes by the north side of Brandeis campus. It leaves from Central Square in Cambridge and runs fairly frequently. Please note that the 70 bus is very frequently running late. We recommend leaving extra time if you plan to take the 70.
The best way to get to campus from the 70 bus is to take the back entrance, which is a walk of about half a mile. Take the bus all the way to the end of the line (Cedarwood Avenue) and walk south on Cedarwood. Take a left at Thornton Road and continue all the way down. Thornton Road ends at a traffic gate, which is the back entrance to Brandeis. It will put you right next to Tower Lot, which is next to Rabb Academic Quad.
